Why applications stall, and how to prepare a file that a compliance team can approve.
Why it takes longer than founders expect
UAE banks apply rigorous know-your-customer checks. They want to understand who owns the company, where its money comes from, who it will trade with and why it needs an account here. A new company with no history has to answer those questions on paper.
What a strong file contains
Preparing these before you apply shortens the process considerably.
- Trade licence and constitutional documents
- Passport, visa and Emirates ID of each shareholder and signatory
- A short business plan with expected turnover
- Evidence of source of funds
- Sample contracts or invoices with expected counterparties
- Proof of a physical presence where the bank requires one
Choosing the right bank
Minimum balance requirements, appetite for particular industries and digital capabilities vary widely. Applying to a bank that suits your profile matters more than applying to the best-known name.
